About
About.
Grant Pierrus. Portrait placeholder, to be replaced with a real photograph.
I've spent my life in and around art and design: studios, galleries, with designers, artists and creatives. London is my home, and I travel often to search out beautiful things.
This is where I write about what I see and what I think. The artists worth following, the works worth buying, the creative ideas that inspire me. Through this, you get to see my way of seeing, and hopefully it inspires you to see deeper.
What you'll get
- First-hand reports from the studios, galleries and homes I visit.
- Honest opinion on what's worth your money, your time and your attention. And what isn't.
- First word on the artists, designers and creatives about to matter.
- The detail you only notice when you're in the room: weights, materials, light, what's on the wall, what the press release won't tell you.
Three kinds of writing here
A visit is written in the room: what was on the bench, what was on the wall, what was said. Not a press release, not a profile.
An essay takes longer. Topics like furniture, attention, collecting, or how one good piece can change a whole room.
A field note is one thing I noticed on a given day. A list, sometimes. A single observation, more often. The shortest pieces here.
How I work
- First-hand only. No press releases reheated. No second-hand reporting.
- No paid placements, ever. No commercial relationships with anyone I write about.
- The specifics. Names, dates, places, materials, weights.
- The first paragraph tells you who, where, what and when.
- Present tense, throughout.
Bruton Row
Bruton Row is home to things I find and want to share. It's the same eye and edit, but accessible. I write on grantpierrus.com and sell on brutonrow.com.
